Traditional Craftsmanship with Modern Precision

Basnetbase GmbH is a specialized musical instrument workshop located in the heart of Vienna, within the Neubau district. Since our founding in 2012, we have dedicated ourselves to the preservation, adjustment, and construction of high-quality instruments. Our work combines deep technical expertise with a passion for pure sound, ensuring an optimal playing experience for musicians of all levels—from conservatory students to professional orchestral performers.

In our workshop, we prioritize an environment that meets the strict requirements of sensitive tonewoods. Operating within a controlled space of 65 m² with a constant relative humidity maintained between 45% and 55%, we ensure that every instrument remains stable during processing and is protected from tensions caused by climatic fluctuations.

Our Workflow and Principles

Every instrument that enters our workshop undergoes a structured process. We begin with a detailed diagnosis to determine the actual condition and the specific needs of the instrument. Only after this analysis do we create a cost estimate, which is coordinated with the client before any work begins.

On average, we process 45 instruments per month, with a standard setup typically taking about 3 days. This timeframe allows us to respect the necessary resting phases for the materials and to verify the results with absolute precision.

We consciously avoid the use of materials from protected species, such as ivory or Brazilian rosewood, unless valid CITES documents are provided. In doing so, we fulfill our responsibility toward nature conservation.

Upon completion of the work, the client receives their instrument along with a detailed report on the measures taken and specific recommendations for future care.
